The Heartland Daily Carry Match is a practical defensive pistol competition designed to help shooters build confidence and skill with their everyday carry equipment. The match focuses on realistic defensive scenarios and safe firearm handling in a controlled competition environment.
Participants are expected to use the handgun they normally carry for personal defense. Stages are designed to reflect realistic engagement distances, with paper targets placed at close range and steel targets sized and positioned to safely minimize the risk of splashback. This is not a long-range shooting event; the emphasis is on practical, close-distance marksmanship and efficient gun handling.
Required equipment includes one handgun chambered in .380 ACP or larger, a concealed holster that fully covers the trigger guard, one spare magazine, and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. All firearms and magazines must remain concealed under a cover garment during the match. Appendix carry is permitted, and red dot sights are allowed.
The Heartland Daily Carry Match provides a safe and welcoming environment for shooters to practice with the equipment they rely on every day while developing practical defensive shooting skills.
